Columbus Telegram: Abortion ban fails in small Nebraska town; others pass, some narrowly
Curtis is the biggest town in politically ruby-red Frontier County, a county where, on Election Day 2020, 85% of voters cast their ballots for Donald Trump.
But last Tuesday, Curtis voters went back to the polls and did something that, at first glance, seems to contradict their ultra-conservative image.
They voted down an ordinance that would have banned abortion within the city limits. They did so by a giant, 41-point margin.

Faith comes by hearing the word of God...it does not say it comes from reading the word of God. Granted, reading the word is important and it is a sure help for growing faith. But if God is really there than you need to LISTEN to Him. Through that you will have assurance of not showing up on that day and God saying "I dont know you." If youre having a problem with actually hearing God it is not because He does not want to speak. He weighs your heart. Demonizing people you label as progressive and will not help the weight of your heart.
Politics is a symptom....NOT a remedy. It never will be. Laws will stop some abortions...but will not stop abortion. And the women prolifers spent years saying they were not going to be arrested or jailed for it....will now be arrested and jailed for murder...so dont expect anything parades for the "laws". After 40 to 50 some years of the church addressing it as a political movement...they still missed the whole vision. It is possible that God could have intervened shortly after January 1973. But He wasnt invited. Instead political agendas and anti-abortion groups took to action and politicians year after promised to end abortion....and best the Church could do was ask God to bless their endeavors. Now both left and right have created a cataclysmic riff and mucked it all up. NEVER does the Bible under the new covenant authorize politicians to share His glory. He wont do it. And now here we are. Star preaching about the God who is there and not the one you can only read about in the bible.

The Supreme Court heard nearly two hours of arguments in the legal battle involving the Mississippi law that prohibits abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, which directly conflicts with its past decisions on abortion. In the landmark 1973 decision in Roe v. Wade and reaffirmed in 1992's Planned Parenthood v. Casey, the high court said states cannot ban abortion before fetal viability — the point at which the fetus can survive outside of the womb, which is now considered to be between 22 and 24 weeks of pregnancy.

November 28, 2021:
The term "pro-Life" is a political slogan which has, for the most part, lost its sense of meaning (especially in the pro-Trump era). It shows in their arguments. Personally I do not know anyone who has had or contemplating an abortion ever say "I am going to the abortion clinic to kill my baby." For the person to decide to get an abortion there are much more issues at play in the life that the mother is living. I am not defending their choice..but there are real issues going on in peoples lives.
Pushing the pro-life argument to its own logic, the basic argument would have to say that If abortion is murder and then women should be locked up for murder....and currently we would call that Texas.
Though I was a very active prolifer in the 80s I was mainly political but did my share of picketing. The 80s prolife movement relied on politics as its base...and many people, including myself, believed that politics and Christianity were the same thing. I was doing work for the Lord. In hindsight...if everything was truye back then... it means Christianity is a failure because it couldn't control politics and politicians. It would mean that in the scheme of things we could only declare victory for Jesus if we got a politician to act....and at no time in Biblical history is there any record of Gods people having to elect pro-life politicians so they could please God. In fact "Democracy" would not be Gods choice for a government in spite of what the so-called conservative evangelicals say. God's choice has always been a Monarchy. You can read that in the Bible yourself.
And a simple basic rule is that God does not share his glory with anyone and certainly not a politician.
Abortion is the result of a failure of the Church to act as Christians in their own cities, towns, or settlements. As Christians are to be "the salt of the earth"(per Jesus words), it is the church that is at fault for many problems in the world...because politics won't or can't fix them and the American church has spent the last 40 plus years weaponizing themselves like a political action committee. The Christian world..especially in America...is busy doing "Christian" things with their Christian groups and thinking they are being a witness to the world by being self/church absorbed. However, the world is not looking at the Church very much any more because too many have made it clear that you got to join, or give money and say all the "amens" in the proper place. In other words..they have become so unimpressed they aren't looking anymore. Why should they? The Church has had plenty of time to offer answers and actions but simply have not. Real Christians have access to the truth about the world and where it's going and could be key in offering answers and aid. Instead, they are going to have another potluck, bring in Santa for Christmas service and who knows what else now..as I, truthfully. havent got much involved in those things in many years.
At the foundation of everything, the Church (Christians) etc have lost their vision. The race is not to have a political victory, it's to end up before God some day and have Him address us as a "good and faithful servant" and bring as many folks as we can with us. We are just passing through this world....the Church is mainly just teaching people how to get by in this world. IMHO (Guess I wrote a book)

On Dec. 1, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments in a case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, about a Mississippi state law banning nearly all abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. If the court allows the law to remain in effect, the decision will effectively hollow out Roe v. Otherwise they will have to go out and talk to women, impact communities, and help to establish some kind of moral standard and sense of community. And actually heed the words of Jesus to "go out into the word and "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."
That would, however, take away from a lot of TV, internet and recreation time. It's much easier to send money to a politician and post "I am Prolife" somewhere on the internet and call it a "blessed time in service for the Lord." And could take away from insurrection planning time.

Sept 9, 2020:
Roe V Wade was in Jan 1973. Every four years since then there has been a Presidential candidate, usually Republican, who has promised to end abortion and stop funding. Reagan didnt do it. Neither of the Bushes did it. Under Trump, in 2017 Planned Parenthood had its biggest budget ever, then beat that in 2018, then beat that in 2019. In between presidential campaigns the Senator and Rep candidates all made the same promises. Didn't happen. Even the states that think they "Defunded" PP did not stop it...they just killed a funding source (and some only temporary).
Back in the late 80s when I was a very active anti--abortion activist I recollect being told by someone that the further we get away from Roe V Wade, the more difficult it will be to reverse it. It is now 2020. It was Albert Einstein who said “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." The list of prolife candidates since 1973 is almost endless.
Politics is not the answer...it is a heart issue. And it always has been. The "Christian Right" got caught up in the idea that if we pick the right candidates, if we check the right box or pull the right lever we are doing our part of "Gods will." That would mean, however, that when Clinton & Obama won twice we failed God...or maybe God just wasn't paying attention that month. We have heard that "a camel is a horse designed by a committee." Well, a deep dark hole is a skyscraper built by a group of politicians.....especially those that use the words "investigation" or "judicial" or "review" in their title.
Digging our way out doesnt mean electing better builders who promise they will not fail this time....and this time...and this time...and this time....that's back to insanity.
Racism, abortion, and probably a long list of items cant be left to politicians. They require sincere prayer and action from the true elect and a little less intrusion by the elected.
