ABC30: Many argue poor education is 'root cause' of violent crime
In Chicago, violent crime up is 40% year-over-year. Labor Secretary Marty Walsh visited the city Monday, saying these headlines miss the point.
“They talk about crime but they don’t talk about the root causes of crime,” Walsh said. “The root cause of crime is poverty, lack of education, lack of opportunity, lack of choices, lack of theft, lack of help.”
Addressing the root cause of crime is on the to-do list for many of the nation's big city mayors but few appear to be making big progress. Walsh served as mayor of Boston for seven years.

If they would make efforts to protect school kids rather than put fear in the parents (and kids) and ask them for DNA in case they are killed is just pure insanity. UPDATE: Parents have been able to request “fingerprint and DNA identification kits” from Texas schools since before Uvalde as part of a program to help find missing kids.

Team sports: A quintessential part of the American experience. Whether it’s football, soccer, baseball or anything in between, we can all come together to watch grown men and women fight over a ball, or in winter, a puck. With winter right around the corner, hockey season is in full swing. In true American fashion, students at the University of Massachusetts find comfort in bonding over poorly heckling players.
