Election 2020
Giuliani assets will transfer to Georgia election workers he defamed A federal judge has ordered former Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani to place numerous assets, including cash, jewelry and his New York apartment, into a receivership controlled by two former Georgia election workers as they seek to collect a $148 million defamation claim against him. The 24-page ruling issued Tuesday orders Giuliani to place the assets into a receivership within seven days. But U.S. District Court Judge Lewis J. Liman of New York ordered the “immediate turnover” of Giuliani’s apartment on the Upper East Side, which is already for sale. Liman also orders Giuliani to take legal steps that would allow the election workers, Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, to seek an estimated $2 million in legal fees that Giuliani has said he is owed by Donald Trump’s campaign organization and the Republican National Committee for his work leading Trump’s post-2020 election legal challenges. “Do you throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER, or do you have a NEW ELECTION? A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution,” Trump wrote in a post on the social network Truth Social and accused “Big Tech” of working closely with Democrats. “Our great ‘Founders’ did not want, and would not condone, False & Fraudulent Elections!” Dec 1, 2022: NPR: They ran a voter suppression scheme. Now they're sentenced to register voters
Two far-right operatives who told tens of thousands of people not to vote by mail in a robocall scheme will now have to spend 500 hours registering people to vote thanks to a legal sentence from an Ohio judge. Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman robocalled roughly 85,000 voters across Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Ohio in the summer of 2020, falsely telling them that voting by mail would risk "giving your private information to the man." Associated Press: Future of American democracy loomed large in voters’ minds
This week’s ballot had an unspoken candidate — American democracy. Two years of relentless attacks on democratic traditions by former President Donald Trump and his allies left the country’s future in doubt, and voters responded. Many of the candidates who supported the lie that Trump won the 2020 election lost races that could have put them in position to influence future elections. But the conditions that threatened democracy’s demise remain, and Americans view them from very different perspectives, depending on their politics. 11.9.22 |
September 30, 2022: NPR reported that Dominion Voting Systems is putting Fox News star "Judge Jeanine" Pirro back on the legal hot seat in its clash with the network in a $1.6 billion defamation suit over baseless claims of fraud in the 2020 elections, NPR has learned. In documents filed Thursday in a Delaware courthouse, the voting tech company explicitly identified Pirro, a former Westchester County district attorney and New York state judge, as central to its case. Its filings argue that by questioning Pirro, Dominion can meet the key legal threshold of proving Fox showed "actual malice" when it broadcast false claims the firm sought to throw the race to Joe Biden over then-President Donald Trump.
October 3, 2022: The Week reported that Former President Donald Trump filed a defamation suit against CNN on Monday, accusing the network of "trying to tilt the political balance to the left" amid concerns he will run for president again in 2024. Trump is seeking at least $475 million in damages. Trump has long railed against the media, calling reports he doesn't like "fake news," and his relationship with CNN has been contentious for years. His lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Florida, claims CNN is attempting to "taint the plaintiff with a series of ever-more scandalous, false, and defamatory labels of 'racist,' 'Russian lackey,' 'insurrectionist,' and ultimately 'Hitler.'" The suit also refers to CNN describing his false claims of election fraud in the 2020 election as "Trump's big lie."

Law and Crime: Rudy Giuliani Dealt Another Setback in Multi-Billion Dollar Legal Brawl with Smartmatic, as Judge Revives Once-Dismissed Count
On Wednesday, the judge agreed to revive one of the counts that Giuliani had successfully dismissed. That count alleged that Giuliani defamed the company by claiming that their “election technology was designed and used to fix, rig and steal elections.”

Penn Gazette: Biden implores voters to save democracy from lies, violence
After weeks of reassuring talk about America's economy and inflation, President Joe Biden turned Wednesday night to a darker, more urgent message, warning in the final days of midterm election voting that democracy itself is under threat from former President Donald Trump's election-denying lies and the violence he said they inspire.
Pointing in particular to the attack on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband, he said that Trump's false claims about a stolen election have “fueled the dangerous rise of political violence and voter intimidation over the past two years.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham asked the Supreme Court on Friday to temporarily block a subpoena from a Georgia grand jury investigating efforts to overturn former President Donald Trump's loss in the state in 2020.

The right-wing cable network One America News Network on Monday ran a pre-recorded 30-second segment acknowledging that there was “no widespread voter fraud” by Georgia election workers in the 2020 presidential election. The segment appears to be part of a recent settlement relating to a defamation lawsuit brought against the network by two such workers.
The segment notes that an investigation by state officials into unsubstantiated claims of widespread voter fraud made by ex-President Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani turned up nothing. “The results of this investigation indicate that Ruby Freeman and Wandrea ‘Shaye’ Moss did not engage in ballot fraud or criminal misconduct,” a narrator states. -Daily Beast

James Piazza, a liberal arts professor at Penn Statewrote a column saying that "Democracy is based on a compact: Election losers agree to accept the results and encourage their supporters to do the same.
In exchange, losing politicians get a chance to run and win in a future election.
However, loser’s consent is fragile, and when it is broken, the risk of political violence increases. In a recent study I published, I conclude that when election losers in democracies reject election results, becoming “sore losers,” trust in political institutions is eroded, political polarization and tribalism grows and mistrust thrives.
This produces a situation where political violence is no longer seen as taboo, particularly among supporters of the losing political party. My research shows that when losing politicians in democracies refuse to accept election results, citizens begin to see terrorism as more acceptable and domestic terrorism increases." On Tuesday Nov 3 we discover that the Republicans AND Democrats both tried to steal the election ...there will be many from both parties involved all the way to the candidates themselves. They will all be charged and thrown in jail.
But instead of chaos and confusion, the people discuss and actually communicate about real issues and real problems. And it turns out that the American People Actually Win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Trump has failed to deliver for the military, national defense, and national security,” wrote Vindman, who was fired from the NSC after raising concerns about Trump’s infamous July 2019 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. “Nothing can be more damning than a Republican Admin. losing the support of military personnel and their families.”

👉Picture a locomotive going full speed on a track headed south. Then picture another locomotive going full speed headed north on the same track. Neither of them are planning to stop...at least not voluntarily. Most people would call the collision horrific. I call it the DNC vs the RNC. Both holding narratives which do not say "this is how we would do it," but rather "this is the ONLY way to do it." That's why I didn't watch either convention. I don't enjoy watching trains wreck.
They pick their own news, their own issues, and, hence, they've picked their own realities. Can two realities co-exist? No. So what will happen? I think we'll see in November if both sides don't blow up before then.
👉So far in the RNC convention Trump has been revered as everything short of the Messiah. George W Bush..a Republican who won two terms..nowhere to be seen or heard from. Instead it's like a Trump family reunion with some friends and girlfriends. But that is the Republican National Cult of Donald Trump. A leader with a party of sycophants...living and breathing off every word Trump speaks. When he says jump they ask "how High?" When he declares news to be "Fake" they fall in line and listen to their masters call. (You gotta know he's playing them and keeping their narrative to one approved by only Trump). If you dont see it you are too close or in it.
👉President Donald Trump's former personal attorney and self-described fixer Michael Cohen denounces his old boss as a liar and fraud in a series of ads set to run this week during the Republican National Convention. Trump never loses an employee. He gains someone he can burn in a verbal effigy as Trump now calls him a "failed lawyer" and "a convicted liar." Cohen's payback? Cohen has written a tell-all book titled "Disloyal: A Memoir: The True Story of the Former Personal Attorney to President Donald J. Trump." It likely details some of the ride before the train wreck.

👉The GOP has formally nominated Trump to a second term. The RNC decided not to do a new platform this year. So this year it will be simple and only two words: Donald Trump. This will make it easier for Trump supporters since most cannot read and those who can just don't anyway.
Trump decided to show up and the crowd actually chanted "12 More Years! 12 more years!" Of course that was at Trump's request. Trump has already admitted that he is --without a doubt --the best leader of all time (and now he has a video to prove it). Of course the only one polling for him to make that calculation was himself. And, to be sure, his supporters (Magas? voters? fans? Twitter followers? cult followers?...whatever they call themselves ) they'll be saying the same thing.
👉Trump also made it a point, again, to declare that Democrats are rigging the election and claims It will be "catastrophic"
(Note: for Trump supporters..sound it out slowly ..and it means "involving or causing sudden great damage or suffering.")
All his sound bytes along that line sound to me like he is already conceding that he is not going to win and the Democrats will be to blame because he stated emphatically that it "will be catastrophic for our nation." "You'll see it" he added.
Will he blame the USPS ? Too early to tell, because he hasn't declared that the Postmaster General probably doesn't have an American birth certificate yet.

Aug 21, 2020: The Alliance Review: Guest View: A pro-life voting alternative
For those of us who are pro-life and find some candidates who purport to be pro-life but behave in ways contrary to our Biblical values, let me suggest a way out of the voting conundrum we now face. As a conservative and a Republican for over 40 years, instead of voting for an incumbent whose conduct we find appalling, let me suggest we withhold supporting them and focus on living out our faith by providing additional support to programs that have been successful at reducing unwanted pregnancies and abortions.

👉Former President Barack Obama offered harsh criticism of Trump in his remarks at the DNC Convention on Wednesday. Trump tweeted out --in capital letters so we would know he meant it-- that Obama "SPIED ON MY CAMPAIGN, AND GOT CAUGHT!" Spygate is a conspiracy theory initiated by Trump that the Obama administration had placed a spy in his 2016 presidential campaign for political purposes. No evidence has ever been found but if anyone was spying on Trumps campaign it was probably for just they needed a good laugh now and then or looking for his tax returns, which may be just as funny.

👉On the convention night designated for the official nomination of Joe Biden as the Democratic Party’s candidate, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez gave a speech nominating Sen. Bernie Sanders. Pro-Trump on Twitter & FaceBook went ballistic claiming she tried to hijack the nomination with Sanders. But her speech was part of convention procedure. The nomination of Sanders was symbolic. Kind of like when elected officials say they're going to commit to doing something helpful and logical...but dont . Its just symbolic.
👉"Why are Republicans allowing the Democrats to have ridiculous Post Office hearings on Saturday & Monday, just before and during our Convention.?" Trump tweeted. The assumption is that it might detract from Trump's RNC Show. But the distraction could allow the Republicans to get their Horses and Ponies together for what is sure to be a prime time spectacle. They may have to borrow some of the ones the DNC used.

The virtual Democratic Convention begins Monday. There will be no crowds, little pageantry and entirely uncharted waters at the remote event this year. The big question is: Will Joe remember to show up?
The USPS is having major problems getting mail delivered in a timely manner. Trump appointed a Postmaster in May who did not work for the USPS.....but is a big Republican donor. So according to the Republicans "there's nothing to see here...move along."

Aug 14, 2020: Gallup: Religious Identity and the 2020 Presidential Election
Of particular interest this election cycle is the religious identity of voters, a factor that appears, at least to me, more important than it has been in recent presidential elections. This is in part because Joe Biden is only the fourth major-party Catholic presidential nominee in U.S. history and in part because Donald Trump continues to make the courting of evangelical voters a major priority of his campaign. Both the Biden and Trump campaigns have appointed coordinators to reach out to faith communities.

Aug 11, 2020:
We are now living in a time where there is everything from a blur to out and out dismissing the concept of right vs wrong or even left vs right. People are now choosing their own reality. American politics mainly has brought that to the forefront over the last decade or so (and roots go further back).
The pandemic mixed with a election and a narcissist for a President (& candidate) has been the perfect storm to bring this to a head. America is not totally exceptional with the problem as it has affected other countries as well, but we are the worst. Lots of people clamoring for "My Rights My Rights" with no comprehension of the fact that not everyone can have "My rights" if everyone's "my Rights" is different..and they are.
This election is not about Republicans vs Democrats..but instead has become about "my reality" vs "your reality." That is a great breeding ground for conspiracy nuts and theories by the score...and we ARE now seeing them elevated to levels which now are holding offices in DC and state political offices. We are on the edge of a precipice where soon everyone will be doing what is right in their own eyes with even many churches and denominations helping that along. Years and years of churches teaching about everyone's "personal relationship" with Jesus has brought the church to the same place where everyone can go to the same church but have a different relationship with the God they think is there just as long as everyone "feels blessed "about it
And the only caution there is not to seek the God you want ...seek THE God who is there. <<<<and I would go so far as to say that as near as I can tell right now that is going to be the best way through this mess as I dont really see a way right now that we're going to get out of it. (all actions have consequences) ...but feel free to pray I am wrong. In fact I would encourage it. --Zorek Richards (Editor)

We were not established as a Republic...but we are now. 250 years of Supreme Court rulings and legislative actions have brought to here. We are now actively a Democracy. Historically Democracies are very unstable forms of government and ultimately fall apart from within. Yes, American Democracy is at risk...has been for awhile. But BOTH parties are to blame as they have both played a major part in destroying it. --Zorek Richards
