===Herschel Walker===
Herschel Junior Walker (born March 3, 1962) is an American former professional football running back who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 12 seasons. He was also the Republican nominee in the 2022 United States Senate election in Georgia. Walker played college football at the University of Georgia, where he won the Heisman Trophy as a junior. He spent the first three seasons of his professional career with the New Jersey Generals of the United States Football League (USFL) and was the league's MVP during its final season in 1985. After the USFL folded, Walker joined the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys, earning consecutive Pro Bowl and
second-team All-Pro honors from 1987 to 1988. In 1989, Walker was traded to the Minnesota Vikings, which is regarded as one of the most lopsided trades in NFL history and credited with establishing the Cowboys' dynasty of the 1990s. He was later a member of the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants before retiring with the Cowboys. Walker was inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1999.

OPINION: Mark Robinson is finished in NC governor's race. Who did NAZI it coming?
Take Herschel Walker for example — Please! (Georgia Republicans would now say.) Walker was a University of Georgia football star, who, despite being wholly unqualified and wholly unvetted, made a ridiculous and failed run for U.S. Senate in 2022 against the Rev. Raphael Warnock, the Democratic incumbent. Warnock happens to be Black, so is Walker. So the reasoning went, well you know how the reasoning went. But even Herschel's own son — a conservative — objected to his dad’s campaign, knowing his dad’s past, which included affairs and disturbing incidents of violence. Dec 10, 2022: Insider: Defeated Georgia GOP Senate candidate Herschel Walker was 'absolutely shocked' he didn't win 100% of the vote in Johnson County, where he grew up: report
Dec 7, 2022: Los Angeles Times: Column: Warnock won and Walker lost because voters judged on character
But was it really progress that put two Black men — Sen. Raphael Warnock, the Democrat who won Tuesday’s runoff, and Herschel Walker, the football legend and Republican candidate — on the ballot? I don’t think so, not given the self-serving cynicism that led first Donald Trump and then other pliant Republican leaders to pluck Walker from Texas to run against Warnock, the senior pastor at Dr. King’s Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. Leading Black pundits called Walker’s candidacy tokenism and “an insult to Black people,” given his evident unfitness for the office. Dec 7, 2022: New York: Herschel Walker’s Son Thinks His Dad Deserved to Lose
Raphael Warnock won Georgia’s Senate runoff last night, confirming his reelection and ending an exceedingly messy campaign by his opponent, former NFL player Herschel Walker. The latter’s bid for Congress began to founder in October, when reports emerged that Walker — who has claimed to be as anti-abortion as it is possible to be — not only encouraged an ex-girlfriend to terminate a pregnancy during their relationship but paid for the procedure. The woman’s account set off a series of revelations about the politician’s apparent hypocrisy, maybe most notably from his own son, the right-wing influencer Christian Walker, who accused his father of adultery, domestic abuse, and of using him to prop up a façade of “family values.” Dec 6, 2022: The Atlantic: Herschel Walker Is an American Tragedy
Walker’s candidacy is a fundamental assault by the Republican Party on the dignity of Black Americans. How dare they so cynically use this buffoon as a shield for their obvious failings to meet the needs and expectations of Black voters? They hold him up and say, “See, our voters don’t mind his race. We’re not a racist party. We have Black people on our side too.” Parading Walker at rallies like some kind of blue-ribbon livestock does not mean you have Black people on your side. What it means is that you are promoting a charlatan—a man morally and intellectually bereft enough, blithely egomaniacal enough, to sing and dance on the world stage against his own best interest. Is he in on the joke? Does he know they picked him to save money on boot black and burnt cork, this man who made his name by bringing the master glory on the master’s field, who got comfortable eating from the master’s table? |
Dec 5, 2022: Gainesville Times: ‘It’s an emergency’: Sen. Warnock rallies church crowd in Gainesville, discusses stakes of election
Sen. Raphael Warnock lived up to his reverend title on Sunday, preaching about the importance of his Senate race during a lively campaign rally at St. John Baptist Church in Gainesville.
Warnock is running against Herschel Walker for one of Georgia's two U.S. Senate seats. The winner will be decided in the runoff election Tuesday, Dec. 6. Neither candidate was able to secure more than half the vote in the general election, which is required to avoid a runoff in Georgia. Less than 1% of the vote separated the candidates, with Warnock ahead by about 37,000 votes.

Daily Kos: Why is Herschel Walker getting a tax break for his home in Texas but running for Senate in Georgia?
Herschel Walker’s campaign is as bumbling as the Republican Senate candidate's ability to state a cohesive thought, but this latest misstep is particularly egregious. CNN reports that Walker is getting a tax break this year on his Dallas-area home. The problem is that’s a break given to folks for their primary residence, and someone obviously forgot to tell Walker that he’s running for Senate in Georgia. 11.23.22

Nov 9, 2022:
88% of evangelical Christians in Georgia voted for Herschel Walker. Mind boggling stupid. Somewhere in his repeated rambling he must have accidentally said the word "Jesus" and the Nationalist Christian evangelicals assumed it was a sign from God to vote for the guy who had little to no Christian values and when it came time to speak, in comparison, he often even made Trump's rambling sound like a genius.
Looks like this will be another runoff in Georgia in the Walker vs Warnock race.

Oct 26, 2022: Vox: Herschel Walker is an epically flawed candidate. He could still win.
On Wednesday, Walker was attacked — again — for being a hypocrite on the issue of abortion after a second woman claimed he’d pressured her into getting the procedure and drove her to obtain one in 1993. This allegation follows that of another woman who told The Daily Beast in early October that Walker helped pay for her abortion in 2009.

Five Thirty Eight: How Have The Georgia Polls Moved Since Herschel Walker's Abortion Controversy?
We now have new polling data that suggests that the story may have cost Walker some support. The Trafalgar Group, Quinnipiac University, Emerson College and InsiderAdvantage have all polled Georgia since the abortion story broke.1 Those surveys showed Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock leading, on average, 48 percent to 45 percent among likely voters. Previously, in those same pollsters’ most recent surveys taken before the news broke, the two candidates were essentially tied at 47 percent each. 10.18.22 |

"How does the so called evangelical right still back Hershel Walker when he has been credibly accused of spousal abuse and caught in endless lies. His opponent Raphael Warnock is a long time Christian minister." -Barbra Streisand on Twitter It's the Trump effect. Apparently the new GOP is lead by crooks and deviants. Georgia GOP candidate Herschel Walker has a lot of demons in his closet. One of his ex-wives said Walker put a gun to her head and said to her, “I’m going to blow your fxx’ing brains out.” He also separately threatened to kill her and her new boyfriend. He lied about his success in the business world, making far far less than he bragged about publicly. He only registered to vote in Georgia a year ago. He barely votes, period. His current wife allegedly committed voting fraud by voting in a state she didn’t live in. He also happens to be one of the dumbest people in public life who admitted weeks ago, “I’m not that smart.” And yet Walker has full support from Christian nationalists like evangelist Franklin Graham, who said of him last year even after we knew about many of these demons, “He’s an outspoken Christian, he stands up for conservative values, and he’s got a lot of common sense.” Reason: Herschel Walker's Campaign Shows Why Third-Party Candidates Are Important
Walker's campaign has suffered self-inflicted wounds. In addition to bewildering comments about pollution (China's "bad air" is trading places with America's "good air") and evolution, Walker's personal life has come under scrutiny. Long a critic of absentee fathers in the black community, The Daily Beast reported in June that Walker secretly fathered two sons and a daughter out of wedlock and plays a very minor, if not nonexistent, role in the children's lives. 10.4.22 |
The Week: Does a bombshell abortion report spell defeat for Herschel Walker?
In September 2009, Herschel Walker — the former college and professional football star and now Republican nominee for Senate in Georgia — paid for his girlfriend to have an abortion, The Daily Beast reported Monday. Publicly, Walker is anti-abortion and has advocated for a national ban with no exceptions. The woman said that though they are no longer dating, she remains in contact with Walker, and told the Daily Beast she came forward to discuss the abortion because "I just can't with the hypocrisy anymore. We all deserve better." She provided the Daily Beast with a $575 receipt from an abortion clinic; a bank deposit receipt showing the image of a $700 check from Walker; and a "get well" card signed by Walker. The woman said Walker encouraged her to get the abortion because it was "not the right time" for him to have a child, and she agreed. Robert Ingram, a lawyer for Walker and his campaign, denied the report, calling it a "false story." After its publication, Walker released a statement decrying the article as a "flat-out lie," and said he planned to sue the Daily Beast for "this defamatory lie." During an interview Wednesday morning, Fox News host Brian Kilmeade asked Walker if he had figured out the woman's identity, to which he responded, "Not at all. 10.6.22 Only Sky: Herschel Walker paid for an abortion.
