Sen. John Thune speaks at annual Reagan Bean Dinner in Fort Wayne
Thune is seeking to succeed Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., as the party’s Senate leader, a post he has held since 2007. Thune’s chief opponent for the position is Texas Sen. John Cronyn. It’s a secret ballot, Thune said, but he has talked to incumbent Republicans and the party’s candidates about his candidacy. One of those candidates is Rep. Jim Banks, R-Ind., who is running for the U.S. Senate seat held by Mike Braun, who is running for Indiana governor. “We’re not taking anything for granted, but we think (Banks) is going to win here and join us in the Senate,” Thune said.

Senators Seek Answers on Migrants, Delivery Services
A trio of Republican senators are demanding answers about reports that potentially dangerous immigrants are allegedly infiltrating Uber Eats, DoorDash, and GrubHub food delivery services and obtaining Americans' personal information, including home addresses. Sens. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, Mike Braun of Indiana, and Ted Budd of North Carolina on Thursday sent letters to the companies' chief executive officers, stating that President Joe Biden's open border policies have allowed "millions of illegal immigrants" to flood across the southern border and to be allowed to remain in the nation's cities.  (Newsmax 4/25/24) READ MORE>>>>>
Indiana Senate Race Intensifies Amid Unusual Endorsements and Legal Battles
The battle for the U.S. Senate seat in Indiana is heating up, with candidates who've gathered the stringent 500 signatures from each of the state's nine congressional districts officially filing their candidacies. The race has caught the public eye for several reasons, including the Indiana Republican Party's early endorsement of U.S. Rep. Jim Banks, an unusual deviation from the standard timing of such endorsements. Additionally, John Rust, an egg farmer and another contender for the seat, is challenging an Indiana law that would typically hinder his candidacy. The specifics of Rust's legal battle are not outlined in this piece. The race for the Senate seat represents a significant political event as it could tip the balance of power in the U.S. Senate and illuminate the political dynamics within Indiana. (BNN  2/8/24) READ MORE>>>>>

Kaine and Sen. Todd Young, R-Indiana, reintroduced a bill last week to repeal the 1991 and 2002 Authorizations for Use of Military Force and formally end the Gulf and Iraq wars.
Kaine said allowing the authorizations to stay on the books invites presidents to bypass Congress and use them in “creative ways.”
Additionally, he said Iraq is no longer an enemy of the United States.
