Election 2024 recap: Eyes on Texas as Trump pit stops in Austin; Harris in Houston Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump have spent months courting pivotal swing state voters that could ultimately decide the election. On Friday, Trump will return to one of those states, holding a rally in Traverse City, Michigan. He'll also sit for an interview with Joe Rogan on his mega-popular podcast. Harris is set to appear at a rally in Houston, Texas, on Friday. The Lone Star State's widely expected to ultimately vote for Trump, but the vice president is expected to take the stage with Beyoncé to support Democratic Senate candidate Colin Allred, who is trying to unseat Republican Sen. Ted Cruz. During an hourlong radio town hall moderated by Charlamagne tha God, host of “The Breakfast Club” show, Harris added that she would work to decriminalize marijuana, which accounts for arrests that also disproportionately impact Black men, and she acknowledged that racial disparities and bias exist in everyday life for Black people — in home ownership, health care, economic prosperity and even voting. While Harris worked to energize Black men in battleground Michigan, Trump focused on women as he faced an all-female audience during a Fox News town hall in swing-state Georgia. The former president sidestepped questions about the erosion of abortion rights under his watch, leaning instead into the nation’s culture wars by vowing to ban male-born athletes from competing in women’s sports. Ron DeSantis, Florida has become a major Republican stronghold, with Democrats constantly losing across-the-board. But ahead of November, the latter party is counting on a wild card to increase their influence in the Sunshine State— Black voters. During the last election cycle, during the 2022 midterms, Black voter turnout was down significantly. In fact, that year showed one of the lowest Black voter turnout across the country, with 10.9% of voters being Black compared to 73% being white, according to Brookings. But this year, Florida Democrats expect a different story, primarily thanks to Vice President Kamala Harris being at the helm of the ticket, which could help down-ballot contests get more support (Latin Times 10/4/24) READ MORE>>>>> "I have said many times they waited too long to fix the border. The good news is that the latest crossing numbers are lower than Jan 21 and staying near 1,500 a day. And the VP has been clear she will sign the bi-partisan border bill. It’s a fair argument to criticize them for waiting too long. But you also have to acknowledge that they are now having success. Which leads to the question of deportations. The Republican nominee says he is going to deport the 21 million people here illegally. He hasn’t said how he will do it." --Mark Cuban responding to a critique by riley Gaines about Kamala Harris and the border. 9/27/24
Trump casts doubt on future debates with Harris Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday cast doubt on whether he would attend future debates against Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump faced off with Harris Tuesday night in his first debate against the new Democratic contender, who performed better than President Joe Biden did in his first debate against Trump, which prompted Biden to drop out and endorse Harris. Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who has supported Trump, said on X that Harris exceeded expectations. “While I don’t think the debate hosts were fair to @realDonaldTrump, @KamalaHarris exceeded most people’s expectations tonight,” Musk wrote. The vice president transformed the 2024 election after President Joe Biden’s abject debate showing against Trump on CNN in June led him to end his reelection bid. She restored several swing states to the electoral battlefield and has had Democrats dreaming of a stunning turnabout in a race most thought they were well on the way to losing. Yet her success in unifying her party, branding herself as a fresh voice of generational change and closing into a dead heat with Trump in polling has so far not cemented a reliable path to the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency. Indeed, if the election were on Tuesday, the ex-president, who has already defied an assassination attempt and scores of criminal charges, could still win. As the presidential race between Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and Republican nominee Donald Trump continues, the right-wing media outlet Fox News has been fixated on minute things about Vice President Harris including her use of earbuds. This came in the form of a segment, introduced by its host John Roberts. “Presidential nominee Kamala Harris,” he began. “She did break her media silence last week in a sit-down interview alongside running mate Tim Walz, but now she appears to be using a new method to dodge press questions…A pair of earbuds.” (Hip Hop Wired 9/4/24) READ MORE>>>>> Kamala Harris Erases Donald Trump's Significant Lead On Mental Sharpness Vice President Kamala Harris has reversed Donald Trump's former significant lead in two attributes on which President Joe Biden was seriously lagging before he dropped out of the presidential race, according to a new poll. The survey, conducted between August 9 and 13 by Langer Research Associates for ABC News and The Washington Post, revealed that the majority of Americans now see Harris as more physically able to serve as president than Trump. When asked who was in better physical health to serve, Harris had 30-point lead, with 56 percent of respondents choosing her and only 26 percent choosing Trump. The poll surveyed 2,336 adults and had a margin of error of +/- two percentage points. It may have been unprecedented that President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race about 100 days from the election, but that isn't what has Democrats and Republicans sparring over the word "weird." Rather, since Vice President Kamala Harris, a younger, more meme-friendly candidate has stepped in as the Democratic candidate, a host of her surrogates have started labeling her opponents Donald Trump and Sen. JD Vance as weirdos. It appears that Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, also reportedly under consideration for Harris' running mate, may have started this wave of attacks. June 13, 2021:
As a "conservative" I have long held that there is a major problem at the border that does need to be dealt with. And, truthfully, there is, though probably not as bad as Fox News is reporting. On this issue, however, I am surrendering my "conservative" credentials on this issue. I have other "changed" issues, but on this one I had a "duh" moment this week listening to VP Harris from Guatemala. My philosophy has always been that if you want to permanently deal with a problem you have to attack it at its root. So what I see is year after year candidates --especially GOP --say "Vote for Me" I will help fix the border problem. The number of officials who did is "0." Trumps "wall" did nothing and I have no reason to believe it would have even if it were completed. Security needs to remain there because of the drug cartel and trafficking issues. I think Biden/Harris are on the right track. If not, it sure seems like the right one and worth a try. To me...I view the relationship between the Mexico President and Trump was suspect. The first thing that makes it suspicious to me is that they liked each other in spite of the way Trump degraded the Mexican people. Obrador, if you know much about him, is likely a thug similar to Trump. Anyway, back on topic, I think the Biden/Harris approach makes sense. Deal with the root and it may make that problem go away...or minimize it. It will never end 100% but I think letting their actions play out could be beneficial for all involved. IMHO August 25, 2021: As the Biden administration was in the middle of the retreat from Afghanistan, Vice President Kamala Harris tweeted: “Joe Biden made a commitment to the American people when he ran for president that he would bring America’s military involvement in Afghanistan to an end. It’s the right decision.”

High-ranking officials, including Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris, took to Twitter to blast our work to protect babies.”
December 16, 2021: Vice President Harris visited an electric vehicle charging station in suburban Maryland to announce a new project by the Biden administration: Building 500,000 more stations.
Dec 31, 2021: After first 11 months, Harris' vice presidency is a work in progress per Joel Goldstein, a Saint Louis University Law School expert on the vice presidency. “She’s had missteps and there’s talk about staff problems, but by all appearances she still has a lot of access to Biden and is involved in a lot of public advocacy. There’s no reason why she can’t have a successful vice presidency. It comes down to what she learns and how she helps the president solve his problems.” Sept 9, 2020: Harris to NBC News’ Chuck Todd, about the Supreme Court: "I think this is an activist court.....We had an established right for almost half a century, which is the right of women to make decisions about their own body.........This court took that constitutional right away. And we are suffering as a nation because of it.”

Harris faced representative and fellow Democrat Loretta Sanchez in the general election. February 27, 2016: Harris won 78% of the California Democratic Party vote at the party convention, allowing her campaign to receive financial support from the party. Jan 3, 2011: Harris was sworn in as attorney General in California. |
Kamala Harris spurs meme frenzy on social media as Biden endorses her
As President Joe Biden announced he would be ending his bid for re-election and endorsed Vice-President Kamala Harris as his successor, social media did what social media is best known to do. Truth to be told, social media users had been enthusiastically imagining Harris’s ascension to the top of the Democratic ticket since Biden’s disastrous debate performance at the end of June. Harris dancing. Harris laughing. Endless clips of her comments about a coconut tree. The next weeks will make clear whether Harris will be the Democrats’ 2024 nominee for president. But in the meantime, the internet picked up where it had left off.
