"I'm not one to demonize people. It's powers and principalities that don't want the message to go out. " or so said "Christian" activist Sean Feucht after HarperCollins cancelled his book deal.
But, according to the Los Angeles Community Action Network, Feucht was recently given the title, “Jesus Christ, Superspreader?” by Rolling Stone Magazine because of his concerts decrying covid19 restrictions and promoting large maskless events. Additionally, his religious/political concerts target movements for racial justice, namely, Black Lives Matter, while attempting to persuade his followers that pandemic related public health restrictions are nothing more than the persecution of Christians.
Pastor Cue Jne Marie of Skid Row’s Church Without Walls says, “The gospel Feucht brings is draped in the same hypocrisies that justified slavery and classified Black people as three-fifths human. But he also takes an extra step, he threatens the health and lives of every resident in a community that’s barely hanging on.” In many ways Feucht is waging biological warfare against a community he deems as defenseless. He will soon find this is not the case if he chooses to continue down this path. BUT, he says, ""I'm not one to demonize people." #doh

In other words, all science can do is confess that Truth is Lord. It may strive to transcend the natural world, but all it does is hit its head on the mythical sky. Christians confess the same Truth, no matter what secular scientists may claim. Yet both crowds must acknowledge the legitimacy of the other. One merely emphasizes the bottom-up view of reductionistic realities while the other highlights the top-down view of Logos – the patterning of reality. -Alex Aili ; Wise Disciple Blog; Dec 2021 |

January 9, 2022:
I listened to a short video today by a preacher named Perry Stone. It was short but it caught my attention so I started listening to another one by him and it went south real quick as he started making him the subject and started making it clear that God was giving him prophetic insights that most people wouldn't understand and then going into politics and banging that Christian Nationalist gong.
I put his name in google and apparently he has a lot of sexual misconduct charges against him lately.
That would probably make sense because the "faux" in Christian Nationalist would not really have a moral compass. Which makes Trump the ultimate poster boy for Christian Nationalism.
American conservative Christians don't wear masks because they like thinking if they don't die while others die that God likes them better or God is protecting them. They also believe that not wearing a mask is a test of faith or that God does not want us to feel obligated to protect the well being of other people by doing something we do not want to do. Yeah, our reaction to this pandemic has made Christians look really bad. Unfortunately most people do not separate "American conservativism" with authentic Christianity. American conservatism has become antithetical to authentic Christian values. Events of the last couple years has revealed the degree to which the church has adopted extreme versions of ideologies that promote individualism over the common good. Very selfish.
Many of the mega-churches looked bad long before COVID: Politics from the pulpit and science denial. Covid is just a blip on that radar.
American Conservatism: For I was hungry and you took away my food stamp eligibility, I was a stranger and you told me to go back to where I came from. I needed clothes and you said I should get a second job. I was sick and you voted to take away my healthcare. I was in prison and you made them privately owned so I would be abused as less then human.
““And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’” Matthew 25:45 NLT

Several states in India have passed what are referred to as “anti-conversion laws,” which ban religious conversion by force or through financial benefits. Activists warn that such laws have intensified attacks and prosecution of Christian individuals and groups. Today India blocked foreign donations to Mother Teresa's Christian charity for the poor.
Under the current Prime Minister such attacks are growing. It is at a point where Hindu activist can just claim (without evidence) that a Christian group is trying to convert Indian people and the police will turn a blind eye to any attacks on them. Compassion International, which helped 147,000 children in India left India 3 years ago as the persecutions were in their early stages. Last week, a mob of 200 to 300 people stormed a Christian school in Madhya Pradesh while students were taking their exams and threw stones at the building.
Pray for Christians in India. It is a small blip in a small country but it could spread.
Nestled behind gates on a golf course in Spring, there is a parsonage - identified in 2013 paperwork as the home of Champions Community Church Founding Pastor Steve Austin - boasts a pool and hot tub with fountains, wine grotto and outdoor kitchen. Zillow says it's worth over $1 million. He pays ZERO taxes on it because its designated a "parsonage" One of several in the state of Texas. When the tax bills come due, the residents of the area have to make up the difference (loss) for school districts or other things property taxes are designated for. In other words the pastor who thinks he is getting a free ride is actually being paid for by his neighbors .
In Travis County, Texas the 3,700-square-foot Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary parsonage set on slightly less than an acre is appraised at $3.33 million. If it weren’t designated a parsonage, the property’s owner would contribute $72,500 a year in taxes.

I responded:
"so we just pray and let God take care of it all? "<<<That is first and foremost the best thing you or any Christian can do. Unfortunately most people think prayer is just a religious exercise that benefits nothing. If we think that it is not powerful enough than we should get to know the God who is there better rather than the one we "create in our minds..or in our image" to be there....
Biblical faith does not require back up. The order comes faith first..then it will produce the action. "Action with faith" is almost a non-sequitur because action does not produce faith (at least not Biblical faith). . But, again, that comes by knowing the One we hear and the One we hear from which is where faith comes from. (faith cometh by hearing..")
As a citizen of America you have the right to call reps or write letters....and maybe a responsibility ....there is nothing wrong with that..it's a part of the system we have under a Republic that became a Democracy. God, in this dispensation, has not got involved with leaders as a whole...just on a personal basis. (ie, He did not intervene in Naziism in the 30s and 40s).
I have a responsibility to God first before my government. Letters and calls and even talking to them may or may not produce anything......but usually produces nothing..(very very rare...and I have not heard of any but I am allowing that there might have been an instance once or twice....) ....because I believe most elected officials have a personal agenda which may or may not be good for everyone.
In the end...should something like abortion be settled...credit has to be given where its due...God or man. God, does not share His glory with any man, though. And man, void of God, is not equipped to govern on his own. He eventually falls back into his default mode which is corrupt and often evil. So if we can credit God it will be pretty clear....if it's just man...then overturning Roe V Wade will not end it...and is more likely to create more problems. So absolutely we as Christians should be salt in a saltless world but since many of us have abdicated that role...the world is spinning on its own. Matthew 5:13, says, “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.” God could have ended abortion in 1973. But, rather than equip ourselves with faith we equipped ourselves with more politics.
But, again, God does not share His glory with a politician of any kind in this or any other dispensation.
In response to what a Christian should do in light of Christian Nationalism where they made the only other choice: "so we just pray and let God take care of it al

Dec 25, 2021: Alabama Baptist: Attacks on Christians rise sharply after anti-conversion law proposed
Attacks on Christians in Karnataka state and on their places of worship have risen sharply since a proposed anti-conversion law was announced Sept. 29, reports International Christian Concern.
Quoting The Indian Express, ICC says the government Assembly is expected to approve the law in December.
However, Hindu radicals in Karnataka state are attacking Christians as if the proposal already is law. The ICC says anti-conversion laws currently in eight Indian states are widely abused to persecute Christians. Radial nationalists falsely accuse Christians of forcefully converting people to Christianity. The false accusations are used to justify harassing and assaulting Christians. Local police often overlook the attacks.

There was an increase in search engine searches for "sorceries" which is related to heightened interest in the Greek word pharmakeia, which, according to a Greek-English Dictionary of the New Testament means ‘employment of drugs for any purpose; sorcery, magic, enchantment’” Some Christians have brought up the term when claiming that Scripture prophetically warns against the vaccine and vaccine mandates, since it shares a root with the word pharmaceuticals.
For the record..I dont believe that ANY of that is true. But I am very aware of a host of Bible interpretations that the Right Wing is misusing to push their ideas as being Christian...and it began with Romans 15 at the beginning of the pandemic

December 5, 2021:
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). The Greek word ceasing in this verse literally means to pray uninterrupted and continually, without omission or intermission. And nowhere in the Bible is there a follow up verse that says “unless you’re really busy.”
Seems rather difficult to think one can continually pray and still go about even simple tasks in our daily lives. We breath without thinking and aren't aware of it without ceasing. So can we pray like we breath?? And if we could pray like we breath would it still be prayer if we were unaware we were doing it?
Praying unceasingly has at least four elements:
1) a constant awareness of and gratitude for the Lord’s great gifts to us.
2) Prayers about every aspect of our lives.
3) A continual attitude of dependency and trust in the Lord.
4) Living the gospel constantly, so that we are worthy to be in constant communication with the Lord.
So there's probably no need to actually repeat the Lords prayer over and over again all day long or spend your whole day on your knees. But an unceasing continual attitude of dependency would be beneficial. That keeps us mindful of who is in charge.
Merriam-Webster dictionary defines prayer as "an address (such as a petition) to God or a god in word or thought." Praying is really no more of a chore if we are doing what Jesus said was the greatest commandment anyway: "To Love the Lord thy God with all they heart, mind and soul (Matt 22).
Most people know of the game "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" where you can pick any actor and connect him/her by six degrees or less to Bacon via another actor through film or some other connection. There is a stronger connection with usually less degrees to connect most anything the Bible says we should do or even not do to the words of Jesus in Matthew 22.
Everything in our lives as Christians should have in its foundation "to love the Lord they God with all our heart, mind and soul." The second part of that declaration was to "love your neighbor as yourself." But taking care of the first part envelopes the second. It also brings us into a place where we pray without ceasing.

Nov 29, 2021: Crux Sola: A New Commentary on Romans, by David Garland
Of the making of Romans commentaries, there is no end (or something like that). But I’m not complaining, I have a whole shelf of Romans commentaries, and we have already seen a 2021 Romans commentary from F. Dale Bruner (LINK), and Michael Gorman has one coming in 2022 (LINK). And I’ll probably read them too. But today I want to mention a new release from the Tyndale New Testament Commentary series (TNTC), by David E. Garland

Sunday - November 28, 2021:
"And said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up,Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’” Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ --Matthew 4:6-7
There is far more in those verses then just an improper challenge toward God. There is something here that flies in the face of any type of "name it-claim it" or prosperity messages. It is tempting God.
Satan quoted a couple Bible verses. Psalm 91:11 and 12. He did not misinterpret them. But he did challenge God to fulfill them (at east verbally anyway). Jesus understood. Instead of saying "hey that's really out of context and not applicable here," he said "You shall not tempt the lord your God." (Duet 6:16)
The Bible is not a book of spells and incantations even though many a prosperity teacher seems to apply the selected verses that way. Using it in the way Satan did is an example of how manipulative people function--and those who desire to subvert the Bible to a book of spells and incantations. That's not how this works...that's not how any of this works.
If we live or act carelessly and expect that God's grace will be there to cover your errors...you may be presuming upon Him something he has not promised. When God created the heavens and earth He established natural laws...like gravity. Gravity describes the inescapable affect that everything that goes up will come down. It is what keeps us on the ground and not floating recklessly into space. If you wish to quote a scripture to help you defy gravity....you would be making a big mistake. Gravity is like a host of other cause and affects (reap what you sow, etc), that are an inescapable reality. That's why prosperity messages fail. They promise gain that if you do this and this will happen. It doesn't work that way. That's not how any of this works.
It is an act of presumption. And very vain presumption. It presumes that if I say this verse...I will defy gravity. Or if I say this verse...then I will become rich. Or if I give you money, God is required to pay me back times 10.

The term "pro-Life" is a political slogan which has, for the most part, lost its sense of meaning (especially in the pro-Trump era). It shows in their arguments. Personally I do not know anyone who has had or contemplating an abortion ever say "I am going to the abortion clinic to kill my baby." For the person to decide to get an abortion there are much more issues at play in the life that the mother is living. I am not defending their choice..but there are real issues going on in peoples lives.
Pushing the pro-life argument to its own logic, the basic argument would have to say that If abortion is murder and then women should be locked up for murder....and currently we would call that Texas.
Though I was a very active prolifer in the 80s I was mainly political but did my share of picketing. The 80s prolife movement relied on politics as its base...and many people, including myself, believed that politics and Christianity were the same thing. I was doing work for the Lord. In hindsight...if everything was true back then... it means Christianity is a failure because it couldn't control politics and politicians. It would mean that in the scheme of things we could only declare victory for Jesus if we got a politician to act....and at no time in Biblical history is there any record of Gods people having to elect pro-life politicians so they could please God. In fact "Democracy" would not be Gods choice for a government in spite of what the so-called conservative evangelicals say. God's choice has always been a Monarchy. You can read that in the Bible yourself.
And a simple basic rule is that God does not share his glory with anyone and certainly not a politician.
Abortion is the result of a failure of the Church to act as Christians in their own cities, towns, or settlements. As Christians are to be "the salt of the earth"(per Jesus words), it is the church that is at fault for many problems in the world...because politics won't or can't fix them and the American church has spent the last 40 plus years weaponizing themselves like a political action committee. The Christian world..especially in America...is busy doing "Christian" things with their Christian groups and thinking they are being a witness to the world by being self/church absorbed. However, the world is not looking at the Church very much any more because too many have made it clear that you got to join, or give money and say all the "amens" in the proper place. In other words..they have become so unimpressed they aren't looking anymore. Why should they? The Church has had plenty of time to offer answers and actions but simply have not. Real Christians have access to the truth about the world and where it's going and could be key in offering answers and aid. Instead, they are going to have another potluck, bring in Santa for Christmas service and who knows what else now..as I, truthfully. havent got much involved in those things in many years.
At the foundation of everything, the Church (Christians) etc have lost their vision. The race is not to have a political victory, it's to end up before God some day and have Him address us as a "good and faithful servant" and bring as many folks as we can with us. We are just passing through this world....the Church is mainly just teaching people how to get by in this world. IMHO (Guess I wrote a book)

1 - Christians must never allow themselves to equate the biblical Kingdom of God with any human political party or nation (John 18:36; Isaiah 9:7; Matthew 6:33, Philippians 3:20, Revelation 11:15). As Christians we must be diligent in maintaining and preserving the distinctiveness between the Kingdom of God and the kingdoms of this world. We must never fuse the two. The great "utopian illusion" that easily enters our politics is that peace, harmony, and prosperity for all can be brought about in the world through human political means.
2 - Christians must never allow ourselves to elevate a specific politician to a messianic or savior status (1 Peter 3:15). In our entertainment and celebrity culture, it is becoming more common for people to infuse politicians with almost a messianic or savior status. In other words, people begin to believe a politician's extraordinary promises and that they actually can single-handedly produce almost supernatural social results. As Christians, we have one Lord, and we must resist all attempts to exalt any human politician to unrealistic heights.
3 - Christians must not just vote, but more importantly, must pray for our government and the leaders of all political parties (Matthew 5:44, 1 Timothy 2:1-2). In our polarized political society, many Christians are tempted to bless the politician or political party they support, and curse the other one they don't. The Bible is clear that we are to pray for all political and government leaders, even our political enemies.
4 - Christians must always remember that our ultimate security is in Christ and in the unshakeable kingdom of God, no matter what presidential candidate or party wins (Hebrews 12:26-29). One of the dangers that many Christians seem to often fall into is that we begin to elevate the outcome of presidential elections to an apocalyptic status. In other words, if our presidential candidate or party does not win, we begin to see it as the end of the world.
When we allow ourselves to understand politics in apocalyptic terms, we at the same time express an unbelief in the sovereignty and Lordship of God over his creation and human history. Yes, elections have real consequences for people, but in the larger scheme of history, don't worry, no matter who becomes our president, God is in control and will take care of things and the outcome will be up to Him and Him alone.
5 - Christians must never allow ourselves to bring the divisiveness and polarization of political parties into the church, the family of God (Romans 16:17, 1 Corinthians 1:11-12). In recent times I, personally, have taken extra notice and discernment if I walk into a church and an American flag shares the space with a Christian flag.
We cannot allow partisan politics to divide the body of Christ. Individual Christians have freedom of conscience before God and the Bible, and as a result, we must accept the fact that there will be diversity of political opinions in the church. We must never allow diverse political perspectives cause conflict and divisions in the church.
6 - Christians must never allow ourselves to demonize or dehumanize another person - no matter what politician it is - because every single human has been created in the image of God (Colossians 3:8, Matthew 7:1, James 4:12). Christians must not engage in demeaning and judging other people, no matter whether we agree with them politically or not.
7 - Christians must never engage in angry confrontational arguments, instead of being open to learn through civil debate and dialogue (James 1:20, Philippians 2:14-16, 2 Timothy 2:14). When we interact with other people with hard-core dogmatic positions, we demonstrate an ugly pride that demeans the character of Christ. As Christians we must humble ourselves, understand that as humans we are limited in our understanding, and that we all can learn more about the very complex issues that face our nation. Christians must always engage in politics through a path of reason and civility.
8 - Christians must never allow ourselves to become so intertwined so closely with one political party that we forfeit our independent identity as followers of Christ. When we do, we lose the prophetic voice to speak and clarify biblical truth to all politicians and political parties (1 Timothy 3:15, Ephesians 4:15, Romans 3:4).
9 - Christians must never allow ourselves to engage in partisan politics by supporting divisiveness between races, between male and female, between rich and poor, and between the young and old (Matthew 5:9, 2 Corinthians 5:18-19). Electoral politics is all about dividing society into specific voting blocks. And as a result, politics usually divides our society, instead of uniting it. Christians must always function as peacemakers and reconcilers in the public square, and resist every temptation to join the political tactics of dividing people for political gain.
10 - Christians must not allow ourselves to fall into the trap of simply cursing the darkness through negativity, instead of constructively engaging our world as preserving salt and illuminating light (Matthew 5:13-16). The cultural and missional mandate of kingdom Christians requires us to stop cursing the darkness and start lighting more candles that reflects God's truth, compassion, and love.

Nov 4, 2021:
In Defense of Failure
The quality that should mark the Christian church is not goodness, but grace, not merit, but mercy, not moralism, but forgiveness, not the enshrinement of success, but the acceptance of failure. Lacking the nerve of failure, we have suffered a failure of the nerve--to dare to dream dreams, venture visions, and risk getting splinters that come from cutting against the grain. (I am not sure of exact source of this paragraph as it has been used many times but I think it belonged to a writing from 1977 by a man named Leonard Sweet)
Most of our education, beginning with kindergarten, has been seriously deficient when it comes to preparing us to confront and handle failure. We Americans are part of a culture that fears failure and worships the golden-calf of success. Only our comic figures like the Charley Brown or Wile E Coyote are acceptable symbols of failure. Ministry depends on willingness to endure the risk and the possibility of defeat without becoming psychologically damaged or professionally destroyed. The church NEEDS people who are not afraid to fail.
The nerve to fail is required of our pastors and church leaders. Jesus sowed love and compassion, and he reaped death on a cross. No matter how hard we try there will always be some people who just wont accept us. Jesus failed the worlds great "litmus test of success" and reminded us "You will be hated by all on account of My name" (Matt 10:22). The "Christianized super-ego" will judge the quality of a ministry on the popularity of it rather than the quality of it. And it is too often how we gauge the viability of any ministry we approach. Have we taken the time to consider that the "hate vs love " ratio of any ministry should NOT be a gauge of anything but rather the quality of the message and the resilience of the committed in spite of failure? After his first sermon, a newly appointed youth pastor, was approached by a critical senior spokesman and asked "How can you expect to please 700 people?" The pastor replied, "I did not come to please 700 people. I came to please one. "
Phillip Brooks, in the late 1800s, wrote: "If you are afraid of man and a slave to their opinions, go and do something else. Go and make shoes to fit them. Go even and paint pictures which you know are bad but which suit their bad taste. But do not keep on all your life preaching sermons which shall not say what God sent you to declare, but what they hire you to say."
Billy Sunday had a more earthy way of putting it: "Some preachers have to be wet nurses to a lot of two hundred pound babies sitting in the pews." The saddest epitaph to be engraved on any saints tombstone is "He never offended anyone."

If Jesus turned the tables over and chased out the profiteers in the church today, there's a whole lot of Christians who would tell Him "That's not what Jesus would do!"

The most helpful and sacred work which can be done for humanity is to teach people not "how to better themselves" but how to "satisfy themselves"...and best taught by example.
The curse of every nation and every creature on earth now and throughout history is to eat and NOT be satisfied. The words of blessing, however, is that they SHALL eat and be satisfied.
There is only one kind of water which satisfies all hunger: the bread of justice and righteousness....from the One who called Himself both "Bread" and "Water."
All men who hunger after justice and righteousness shall always be filled...that being the bread from heaven (the bread of life).
Hungering after just the bread only rewards the wage of unrighteousness and shall not be filled.
John 6:35: "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty"

Going forward I will use "Religious Nationalism" instead of "Christian Nationalism." Christianity is already taking a big hit via the "Nationalism" and the non religious just see the word "Christian" and there are already many Anti-theism folks ready to pounce on Christianity. The big issue right now is lots of calls for taxing the church because of politics. The condition of the non tax status is to keep church and state separate as per the Constitution. So I am not in favor of taxing all the churches, but I believe the ones that are pushing politics should have their tax exempt status removed. If you havent noticed..the most vocal Religious Nationalists leaders usually come from Mega-churches who push tithing and, hence, always seem to have unending bankrolls of money.
I Came across a great example of Religious Nationalism today while looking at an Iowa newspaper. Written by several Iowa pastors, It states: Whereas, God is the ultimate and highest authority, and his laws are the highest laws; and Whereas, masks cover the image of God by obscuring personal identity and violate the holy law of God by restraining the healthy in place of the symptomatic sick;
Keeping people healthy violates the holy law of God???
And the mask shouldn't be worn because it "covers the image of God??"
This has got to be a horrible revelation if you live on really cold parts of the country...like Iowa, for instance. And what about those sunglasses that covers the eyes of God's creation??? I cant imagine why the logic didnt push itself to its end and start condemning people for wearing any clothes at all because it would cover man who was made in Gods image.
The article goes on and conflates the Constitution on an even level with God's Holy law. There are a lot of people pushing Religious Nationalism ideas who are totally oblivious to the fact they are doing it because they see little to no difference between doing Gods will and pushing a political agenda. As I have stated before, we are seeing the culmination of a generation of Christian Americans who believe that the only way to serve God is through politics.....and the idea is to win political points for Jesus. (however they are scored)

Growing up, many individuals have vivid dreams for the future. Regardless of profession, one wishes to envision goals and achieve them. That may be especially true for people whose mission is the literary and publishing worlds. They long to leave behind a world-changing legacy, creating compelling content—often defined as a book. That was undoubtedly true of Byron Williamson, a young American from the farmlands of North Texas in the late 1940s.

Oct 4, 2021: Flagler Live: The Dishonesties of Cherry-Picking Bible Verses
A devout evangelical Christian friend of mine recently texted to explain why he was not getting the COVID-19 vaccine. “Jesus went around healing lepers and touched them without fear of getting leprosy,” he said.
This story that St. Luke tells in his gospel (17:11-19) is not the only Bible verse I have seen and heard evangelical Christians use to justify anti-vaccine convictions. Other popular passages include Psalm 30:2: “Lord, I called to you for help, and you healed me.”; 1 Corinthians 6:19: “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit?”; and Leviticus 17:11: “For the life of a creature is in the blood.”
All of these verses have been lifted out of context and repurposed to buttress the anti-vaccine movement. As a historian of the Bible in American life, I can attest that such shallow reading in service of political and cultural agendas has long been a fixture of evangelical Christianity.
