Sarah Palin
Democrat Mary Peltola has won the race for Alaska’s at-large congressional seat defeating former governor and GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin. That seat has been held by a Republican for many many years. Palin had Trumps endorsement. On the bright side Palin can continue to watch Russia from her front porch
Sarah Palin Has Definitely Not Completely Lost Her Shit
The Iran deal is looking more and more like an inevitability, but that didn’t stop the accord’s opponents from gathering in Washington to protest on Wednesday. Among the rally’s speakers were Donald Trump, his new bromantic partner Ted Cruz, and a Star of David necklace-wearing Sarah Palin, who used to be governor of Alaska and is now just Some Lady. She definitely hasn’t completely lost her marbles.

ON THE RECORD: Dec 29, 2013: .Dan Calabrese (Best of Cain) wrote this commentary on MSNBC's Joy Reid's failed attempt at apologetics when she attempted to use the Bible to condemn Sarah Palin for having a Christmas tree (See Dec 28 On The Record): "And you want to be careful when you let the likes of Joy Reid loose with a Bible, not that it wouldn't be a great thing for her to read it in search of God's Word. But that's not how she reads it. She reads it in search a way to score cheap political points against someone she doesn't like. Satan used to quote Scripture that way too. And as usually happens when secularists quote the Bible, they don't know what they're talking about. That's why they prattle on about shellfish in the Old Testament when you quote 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 in reference to homosexuality. They don't know the difference between ceremonial law and moral law. They don't even know the two exist and are distinct from each other. So they spew nonsense and they're totally convinced they're making a valid point." ON THE RECORD: Jan 2, 2014: Wayne Bennett, author over at Field Negro, wrote an interesting post titled "Quoting Lincoln." It concerns what I have noticed is becoming a fairly common internet phenomenon where quotes are attributed to people who never said it. A couple that come to mind are Sarah Palin saying "I can see Russia from my porch." Actually, Palin never said that. Tina Fey did on an SNL skit where she was playing Palin. Another one is CS Lewis saying "You don't have a soul. You are a soul." It is actually from an article where he was addressing excessive mourning at funerals by a Scottish minister named George MacDonald in 1892: “Never tell a child,” said George Macdonald, ‘you have a soul. Teach him, you are a soul; you have a body.’ As we learn to think of things always in this order, that the body is but the temporary clothing of the soul, our views of death and the unbefittingness of customary mourning will approximate to those of Friends of earlier generations.” Anyway, Bennett notes that Arizona Republican Al Melvin put out a couple tweets: "You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot help the weak by weakening the strong" and " You cannot further the brotherhood of many by inciting class hatred," both of which he attributed to Abraham Lincoln. Bennett writes: "Well, it turns out Lincoln never actually said those words. When the Arizona Daily Star asked Melvin about the misquotes, this is what he had to say. Melvin said he got the quotes from a Republican club newsletter.“It sounded good,” he said. “It seemed like it was something that he would say.”Told of the misattribution, Melvin said, “That’s news to me.” " A good reminder that we need to check our sources. .......Wayne Bennett, by the way, has been named blogger of the month by Black Enterprise.
ON THE RECORD: Jan 12, 2014: Mario Lopez (ExtraTV) did a candid interview with Sarah Palin and asked what she thought about what was going on with Chris Christie. She said she doesn’t think it will affect him running for president. “I don’t think this prohibits him from running for higher office. What Chris Christie has been engaged in the last couple of days isn’t nearly as significant when you consider lives that have been lost via the scandals and cover-ups that have gone on in the White House." Let us never forget Benghazi, in particular, as long as justice has never been served.

("Sarah Palin: Katie Couric's Show Ending 'Didn't Surprise Me'"): "When "Extra"'s Mario Lopez asked Palin if she believes in karma, she replied, "I certainly believe that what goes around comes around." She said that friends mentioned the end of Couric's daytime show to her, recalling, “I remember getting a couple of texts that said things like, ‘Oh, sorry that it didn’t work out there at CBS or ABC.'" Palin also sounded off on Couric's ratings. "The ratings were going in the tank with her as one of the head honchos there in the newsroom at CBS and then it didn’t surprise me, her other move," she said. "Things weren’t going real well there, either." Couric made about $20 million a year for her two years so I really dont think ending it so quickly was such a bad deal for her.

Palin's response: ""The NAACP’s attacks on Senator Tim Scott illustrate the anger and increased intolerance of the political left. Having falsely staked the claim of 'embracing diversity,' we see another example of the left’s 'tolerant hug' excluding those who do not subscribe to their liberal agenda," Palin wrote on Wednesday. "It’s not personal. It’s not racist. It’s not mean spirited. It’s COMMON SENSE to NOT subscribe to their failed liberal policies that lead to dependence on an unstable and bankrupt government."

No, I am NOT kidding. US For Palin: Gov. Palin: NAACP Leader Shows True Color ON THE RECORD: Apr 27, 2014: In a speech to members of the National Rifle Association, gathered in Indianapolis recently, Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice president nominee Sarah Palin made what has been deemed by some a "sacrilegious remark about how she would treat terrorists." She said "Well, if I were in charge, they would know that water boarding is how we baptize terrorists."
Some religious writers have taken offense and say Palin needs to apologize for the remark. Joe Carter (Gospel Coalition) says: "For anyone to confess Christ as their savior and to compare one of the means of God's grace to an act of torture is reprehensible." ("Is Waterboarding How We "Baptize Terrorists"? - Sarah Palin, Enemies, and Christian Anthropology') I have read other similar comments by various writers. For the record, I am not offended by the remark. Granted, it's not theologically correct, but I don't think Palin intended it to be nor considered it to be. The word "baptism" is not an exclusively Christian word if you look at it in the dictionary. Had Palin been attempting to write some theological doctrine, then, yes it would be worth acknowledging it as error. As I tell anyone with any issue, I think its important to pick your battles, and this one is not worth the time and I think such efforts are a waste of time. Context is important and clearly Palin was addressing an NRA crowd of conservatives and not a church group. Palin is one of those people who has been quick to defend Christianity in the public realm and picking a battle with her over this one sentence really has no justification. Comments can be made here: I am NOT Offended by Sarah Palin's Remark about Waterboarding |
