October 20, 2022:
Social Security is an entitlement. The Government funds many things that may not be an entitlement but Social Security is not one of them. If you ever got a paycheck you (and your employer) have added money for your entire life in order that when you reach a certain age you can get that entitlement money back through Social Security.
Republicans are saying if they win in the midterms that they will cut it. I really dont know how much or what they exactly mean by "cutting" it but I know there are a lot of people who rely on Social Security.. A whole lot of senior citizens could be put in a bad spot. Social Security monies have been borrowed over the years by the Fed but never should have been,. Congress has been quite wreckless when it comes to budgets. They really damaged it when they decided that it was OK to tack addendums onto bills that have nothing to do with the intent of the bill (something both Dems and Reps do). Republicans claim to be concerned about the National debt but, in reality, are only concerned if anyone who is a "Not a Republican" does it. Trump (a Republican and Insurrectionist) added More to the National Debt than Obama and Bush. (i.e, $7.8 trillion in ten-year budget deficits.)
Republicans used to campaign on "the Dems will take your social Security if they win." Now they want to cut it themselves and are campaigning for doing something they used to blame the other party for doing because it is a bad move. "Bad moves" and insane politics are now the norm for the GOP.
