Sen. Johnson to Newsmax: Not Expecting Dem Help in Confirmations
Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., told Newsmax on Friday that he is "really not expecting any help from Democrats" heading into confirmation hearings for President-elect Donald Trump's nominees, which are expected to begin next week. "I wish we were going to get some, but I doubt it," Johnson said on "Wake Up America." "I'll be satisfied if they don't obstruct our process of moving forward and confirming those people. I think President Trump won a very convincing victory. He ran on some very strong promises. The American people say they want a secure border. They want safety for their children. And so that's what we need to deliver on. And in order for President Trump to do that, he needs the people in place in his administration to really make good on those promises." JD Vance’s plane makes emergency landing after door malfunction
The charter plane carrying former president Donald Trump’s running mate Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) made an emergency landing in Milwaukee after a door seal malfunction, the campaign said Friday. The plane, a Boeing 737, declared an emergency shortly after it had left the airport in Milwaukee and returned for repairs, campaign spokesperson Taylor Van Kirk said in a statement. The issue was resolved, and the plane continued to Cincinnati, where Vance lives. Vance was in Milwaukee for a campaign event at the city’s police association. A National Transportation Safety Board spokesperson said the agency is not investigating the plane’s grounding as it does not qualify as an accident, defined as “events that result in serious injury or death or substantial damage.” (Boing Boing 8/13/24) READ MORE>>>>>

U.S. Senate candidate Eric Hovde suggests most seniors shouldn't vote
MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Republican U.S. Senate candidate Eric Hovde questioned whether most nursing home residents should be able to vote because they only have "five, six months life expectancy." Hovde, who’s backed by former President Donald Trump, is the latest Republican to raise concerns about voting in nursing homes during the 2020 election after the bipartisan elections commission voted to ban special voting deputies from entering those facilities because of Covid.
During a recent interview on Fox News podcast, Hovde claimed it was suspicious that Racine County nursing homes recorded every resident voting.

Scott Walker said college voters’ top issue is the economy, not abortion. Is he right?
Walker was asked about Vice President Kamala Harris’ then-upcoming visit to Waukesha County on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, and if abortion is still a losing issue for Republicans ahead of the general election. He responded that Democrats need to find an issue that “connects with the everyday concerns” of voters, rather than running on abortion. “The everyday concerns of Americans are the economy — even young people that we work with at Young America's Foundation, our polling shows nationwide, their top issue for college students is the economy,” Walker said. EVIDENCE DIRECTLY IMPLICATES SEN. RON JOHNSON IN TRUMP COUP
Emails obtained by CNN corroborate what Chesebro told Michigan prosecutors: He communicated with the top Trump campaign lawyer, Matt Morgan, and another campaign official, Mike Roman, to ferry the documents to Washington on January 5.From there, Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and a Pennsylvania congressman assisted in the effort to get the documents into Pence’s hands. “This is a high-level decision to get the Michigan and Wisconsin votes there,” Chesebro told Michigan prosecutors. “And they had to enlist, you know, a US senator to try to expedite it, to get it to Pence in time.” (Jason Easely/PoliticusUSA 12/29/23) READ MORE>>>>> |

Feb 14, 2022: Republicans in Wisconsin see Glenn Youngkin's success in Virginia as a playbook for unseating the state's Democratic governor, Tony Evers. With the GOP primary kicking into gear in Wisconsin, the two leading candidates to receive their party's nomination — Rebecca Kleefisch, the former lieutenant governor under Gov. Scott Walker, and Kevin Nicholson, a businessman and ex-Marine — are pushing hard on the issue, hoping they can emulate Youngkin's success in the purple state. Confusion over what the label (Critical Race Theory) means has given Republicans an opportunity to define it in purple states like Wisconsin, where voters in the suburbs of Milwaukee County could determine who the next governor will be. Michels must be stopped.” In response to Michels’ promise to throw out election results he doesn’t like, Evers tweeted, “Folks, we’ve known this for a while – Tim Michels is a danger to our democracy. When you head to the polls on Election Day, remember that we’re fighting to protect our democracy, voting rights, and free, fair, and secure elections.” (AlterNet)
