April 15, 2022:
There is a blog called "A Biblical Worldview" that adds to the name this qualification: "The most politically incorrect blog on the internet, devoted to the glory of the LORD Jesus Christ." I thought, well OK, let's see what it is here. The latest post was from April 9 and titled "The End is Near." He writes a bit of history to back his comments and then mentions, BTW, that organizations like BLM can be summarized this way: Money appears to be the goal of this group, and now that they have a lot of it from corporations and private donors alike.. ????????
But the author expands his rhetoric with comments that would make Tucker Carlson proud: Rulers in power making it illegal to buy the very medicine that would cure the ailment, they also closed businesses, caused people to lose their livelihoods, forced medical treatment on free citizens, and forced people to wear face diapers in order to manipulate them and cause psychological damage. {??} Of, course, we know who is responsible for that kind of insane rhetoric and hyperbole.
In the authors next post it is titled "Black American Must Do Better" and, of course, he rakes the incident with Will Smith and Chris Rock at the Oscars as a major part of his theme that "Black American Must Do Better." He then pontificates on right wing nonsense being sent around the internet. Because, you know, when you are pushing "A Biblical View" of the world..the best place to get the news is from some right wing nutjob pushing propaganda and then adding Bible verses to explain it as racist and how because of the Oscars event "black people need to do better."???really??
I, unfortunately, do have experience in understanding these right wing positions as I used to push them myself not all that long ago. The author (I have to say the author because I dont know if its male or female..though my guess would be that it is a white male) likely feels very smug and proud of having addressed the problem with such "Biblical expertise. The author does use Bible verses but they are kind of a filling. The intent of the verse, in the authors mind, aids the authors worldview...but only in the authors mind. Not in the real world. But, that how right wingers and Christian Nationalists operate.

The phrase “black lives matter” was born the night of July 13, 2013, when Alicia Garza, an Oakland-based community organizer, learned that George Zimmerman had been acquitted in the shooting death of unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin. Garza immediately thought of her younger brother, who is about the same size and build as Martin, and felt it could just as easily have been him who was killed. In a 2015 interview, Garza recalled:
The one thing I remember from that evening, other than crying myself to sleep that night, was the way in which as a black person, I felt incredibly vulnerable, incredibly exposed and incredibly enraged. . . . It was a verdict that said: black people are not safe in America.
That’s a feeling most black folks had, a feeling that I certainly had, and that many black folks in your churches had. Garza immediately logged onto Facebook and posted an impassioned message that ended with the words, “Our lives matter, Black Lives Matter.” - Mika Edmondson; Gospel Coalition 6.24.16

Jan 8, 2022: Bill's Faith Matters Blog: Is Christianity at the foundations of racism?
After a couple of years of hot public debate about racism -- years that followed several decades of many Americans trying to acknowledge and fix racism -- maybe it's time to drop back a bit and think about how the concept of race came about in the first place.
After a couple of years of hot public debate about racism -- years that followed several decades of many Americans trying to acknowledge and fix racism -- maybe it's time to drop back a bit and think about how the concept of race came about in the first place.
"Inside the modern racial consciousness there is a Christian architecture, and also there is a racial architecture inside of modern Christian existence. There are three things we have to put on the table in order to understand how deeply race is tied to Christianity. The first brings us back to the very heart of Christianity, the very heart of the story that makes Christian life intelligible. "That story is simply this: through a particular people called Israel, God brought the redemption of the world. That people’s story becomes the means through which we understand who God is and what God has done. Christianity is inside Israel’s story. At a certain point in time, the people who began to believe that story were more than just the people of Israel, more than just Jews. And at some point in time, those new believers, the gentiles, got tired of being told that they were strangers brought into someone else’s story — that this was not their story. They began — very early and very clearly — to push Israel out from its own story. They narrated their Christian existence as if Israel were not crucial to it. "The fact that Christians came to identify themselves as the chosen people is already a profound distortion of the story. But this is where they are when we come to the colonial moment. They believe that they are at the very center of what God wants to do in the world. This belief is in everything they do and say: the way they read the Bible, the way they form their theology, the way they teach, the way they carry out their Christian lives. "As they begin to realize their power, they also realize the power to shape the perceptions of themselves and others. That is, they begin to understand that not only do they have the power to transform the landscape and the built environment, but they also have the power to force people into a different perception of the world and of themselves. "This is what we came to call European: the power to transform the land and the perception of the people. A racial vision started to emerge. It floated around in many places with many differences in body type, skin color, and so forth. It didn’t come out of nowhere. But now, inside this matrix, it starts to harden. It starts to become a way of perception, not simply of a conjecture. This is where Whiteness begins. "So unless you know that this is a Christian operation, you cannot grasp the absolute power of race to define existence right now, even when people move beyond that Christian matrix and say they don’t confess it or agree with it. They are still inside it. That’s my definition of Whiteness: it is a way of perceiving the world and organizing and ordering the world by the perception of one’s distorted place within it. But it is also more than a perception: Whiteness includes the power to place that perception on other people and to sustain it." Willie Jennings -theologian and seminary professor at Yale |

Dec 3, 2021: The Gleaner: Frank Boyett: First local Klan presence in Henderson detected 100 years ago
That’s not entirely accurate because Henderson had an earlier version of the KKK in 1868, more than 50 years earlier. The heyday of the Klan, however — both in Henderson and nationwide — was in the 1920s, and I’ve been keeping a sharp eye out for when The Gleaner first took notice of the organization.

July 27, 2021: Anxious Bench: Is There a Theological Reason for White Evangelical Racism?
This was the question that I wish Anthea Butler had addressed more directly in her book White Evangelical Racism: The Politics of Morality in America. While Butler's book correctly notes some of the many examples of white evangelical racism over the past two and a half centuries, it did not, in my view, offer a convincing explanation for why white evangelicals have adopted their particular views of race.

1) We have history books. I realize the far right wing struggles with reading if it's longer then 5 or 6 words on a meme. But history isn't all science so it should be easier to digest. Learn your vowels and sound out the words as you go along. ...
2) If you need a flag or a statue to keep you from becoming racist then you have some other pretty serious problems and should seek help immediately before someone gets hurt.. or you start rioting in the Capital waving a Confederate or Trump 2020 flag..

👉Demonstrators gathered at the Lincoln Memorial to commemorate the historic 1963 civil rights March on Washington. The demonstration, taking place on the 57th anniversary of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s iconic "I Have a Dream" speech, seeks "to restore and recommit to the dream Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. defined" that year. The irony, though is that Dr Martin Luther King would likely have nothing to do with what is being passed off today as "peaceful protest" where people burn and loot and kill. If they can "recommit" to the MLK JR vision, however, it would be a great move. At this point, Black Lives Matter and Antifa are essentially domestic terrorists with media support and endorsements from many Democrat leaders.
On a side note: Some men see things as they are and ask why. I dream things that never were, get distracted, then go out for donuts.
👉Sen. Rand Paul was confronted by protesters after leaving the Republican National Cult of Trump festivities at the White House. Later Paul thanked DC Police Dept for "literally saving our lives from a crazed mob" he said. That is great for Rand Paul and his wife but here's the thing that I am not happy about: The DC police protected him, which is fine, but apparently unless you're a politician and not just a business owner, citizens getting face-punched, someone trying to drive to work, or some person who just lives in the neighborhood...the police dont seem to be offering much protection for them. So if you get into a kerfuffle with a "peaceful" protester make sure call the police and tell them you're an elected official. Apparently they'll be right there.

July 31, 2020: Christian Headlines: America’s founding document proclaims that “all men are created equal” with the individual right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” These values have been catalytic to the remarkable achievements and progress of our great nation. However, since World War II, we have also been influenced by existentialism and postmodern relativism. As a result, we are a “post-truth” culture in which truth and meaning are found in our personal experience. “My truth” is not “your truth,” and vice versa.
As a theologian, I would add a third dimension: humans are infected with what Nietzsche called the “will to power.” Because of our fallen nature, we seek to be our own god (Genesis 3:5). This drive for personal power, expressed in a culture that centers on individual rights and happiness, produces the kind of “loose” culture Dr. Gelfand describes. -Jim Denison (Christian Headlines)

June 25, 2020: In 2015, one of the founders of BLM, Patrisse Cullors, said, "We actually do have an ideological frame….[we're] trained organizers. We are trained Marxists. We are super versed on ideological theories." Though King was no fan of capitalism he was also no Marxist. In fact, King said that communism was the only serious rival to Christianity which is why he also said that the two are fundamentally incompatible.
Perhaps the reason why BLM and the civil rights movement under Martin Luther King, Jr. are so different is because they have entirely different agendas. King operated “always from the surpassingly religious” while BLM operates out of a Marxist ideology and ne’er the twain shall meet. So, what would King think of BLM? Perhaps at the very least, not recognizing himself in them, he would wonder how things went so wrong. Place For Truth:. What Would Martin Luther King, Jr. Think of Black Lives Matter?

"We have voices about which life matters. All life is created in the image of God. All lives matter. However, underneath the banner that God has created all people in his image, there are inequities that must be addressed. For example, the life of the unborn matters. And so there is this emphasis on injustice in the womb. But that injustice in the womb must be under the umbrella that all life matters. Black lives matter, as a subset of all lives matter. So any injustices to a particular group must be addressed specific to that group but under the banner that all life is created in the image of God…
Once you extract any specific scenario and remove it from the umbrella of God’s creation, you create your own independent cause. There is no discussion of sociology that, at least from a Christian point of view, shouldn’t be plugged into theology; that is God’s view of it…
…It is technically incorrect, technically, to call yourself a “black Christian,” or a “white Christian,” or a “Hispanic Christian.” Then you make your color or culture an adjective. It’s the job of the adjective to modify the noun. If you put Christianity in the noun position and your color or culture in the adjective position you have to keep shaping the noun so it looks like the adjective that describes it. So if your color stays in the adjectival position you got to keep shaping Christianity to look black or to look white or to look red…" --Tony Evans 07.17.16
